Seat A-Hole–07/18/13

This morning I wasn’t feeling good. I had a rough night, waking up several times with the urge to vomit. Still, I forced myself to go to work. I grabbed a seltzer water from my dad’s store & headed to the train station. Going up the stairs to the platform was torture to my stomach, which was still queasy. When I got to my usual spot on the platform, I had to hold onto the side rail for support.

I was hunched over, sipping my seltzer, when a man walked past me & stands on the opposite side of the light post I was by. Then a woman stops right before me The train finally pulls into the station & as the doors open the man barrels his way in, practically pushing past the woman & me, & jets to the only seat available.

Men like him really get on my nerves. He clearly saw I wasn’t feeling well & that there was another woman. I’m not saying that we, as women, are entitled to a seat in the train. There’s just no reason to bulldoze & make a beeline to an available seat. He’s not a five year old who’s learning what socially acceptable & how to be courteous.

I eventually got a seat, which helped me make it into work without passing out or getting sick in public. But I memorized his face so he doesn’t bypass me again, lol.

MTA Get It Together

Reblogging, since I had the misfortune of experiencing this on my way downtown to go to Long Beach. My sister & I ended up taking the BX19 bus to 149th & Grand Concourse since there were no signs of the shuttle buses at our train stop. It took us an hour to get there! The time we were supposed to meet our other sister in Penn Station! We were not happy campers, or rather commuters!

149th street 2/4/5 Train Station Saturday afternoon July 12th, 2014.
MTA did a horrible job of handling shuttle bus operations on the 2 lime to 180th street in the bronx. Breaking a number of violations which would include the most serious, fire hazard. 100s of passengers stuck trying to get out the 149th st Station. Instead of handing out tickets inside the station there should have been MTA employees handing these shuttle bus tickets outside rather than having so many people blocking both entrances and exits. Get it together MTA.

I’m Back…July 2014

So…I’ve done it again. I’ve been so busy and/or wrapped up with so many things I haven’t posted since March. You know, back when it was still Winter? I completely skipped Spring, & we’re now in full-on Summer. Rather than write a recap of what I’ve experienced during those months of commuting, I’m going to share a picture I took on 03/13/14:

I guess she wanted her hair to match her scarf, lol.

I know I’ve said it before, but this time I’m going to make a serious effort to post more regularly. Not only because that’s what I intended to do when I first started this blog, but also because I want my readers & followers to have the content they liked when they came across Subway Diaries by Izzy. Plus, now I also have a fellow high school alumni reading my blog. He’s been posting his Subway Chronicles as his Facebook statuses, which I think would make a great blog.
